Trish O'Brien
​Trish O’Brien has enjoyed a rich and varied career as a recitalist and chamber musician, performing across Australia and overseas including more recent tours to Switzerland, Germany, Portugal and the UK.  She has performed as chamber musician with many renowned musicians including Jack Liebeck, Paul Dean, Daniel de Borah, Filipe Pinto-Riveiro, Alexander Sitkovetsky, the Australian String Quartet, Navarra Quartet, and more. She is currently the Co-Artistic Director of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University’s resident ensemble, Ensemble Q and cellist of the Endeavour Trio.  She regularly features on ABC Classic FM and has recorded for the ABC, 2MBS records and Solitary Island Records. She has performed as soloist and chamber musician in numerous festivals including the Bangalow Festival, Dunkeld Music Festival, Coramba Chamber Music Festival, Tyalgum Festival, Camden Haven Music Festival, Music by the Spring Festival, Four Winds Festival, and Alpine Classic Music Festival in Switzerland.
 
Trish was Commonwealth Finalist and winner of the String Category for the ABC Young Performer of the Year, performing Bloch’s Schelomo with the Sydney Symphony and Queensland Symphony Orchestras and in the same year won the Fine Music 2MBS Young Performer of the Year. Trish was a member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Chamber Players, the Seymour Group, the Hazelwood Quartet, the Sydney Chamber Players, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra and the Adelaide Contemporary Ensemble.
She has performed as concerto soloist with major symphony orchestras in Australia including the Sydney Symphony and Queensland Symphony Orchestras., as well as the Brisbane Symphony and Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestras.
 
Trish was Associate Principal Cellist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (1988 – 97), as well as guest principal cello for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony.  As a member of the SSO, she toured the UK, USA, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Holland and Switzerland.
Several Australian composers including Matthew Hindson, Elena Kats Chernin, Andrew Schultz, Paul Dean, Mark Isaacs and Christopher Harley have composed works for Trish, and she performed the Australian Premieres of both the Myaskovsky Sonata for Cello and Piano, and Prokofiev Sonata for Solo Cello.
As an Artistic Director Trish directed the APRA award winning Camden Haven Music Festival, the Coramba Chamber Music Festival, numerous concert series and tours, and most recently completed a 4 year term as Artistic Director for the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium.

As an exhibited and published photographer, Trish is a prize-winner in several competitions including a major award in the PX3 Prix de la Photographie, Paris.
